Engravings & Etchings

Drypoint is an engraving method that involves scratching an image into a plate of soft metal with a pointed tool. These lines create a burr that holds ink.
Aquatint is a printmaking technique designed to achieve greater tonal effects.
When the plate is dipped into acid, this etching process provide an irregular level of resistance, resulting in a finish somewhat similar to watercolour.
Drypoint and Aquatint techniques can been used separately or in conjunction to give both lines and shaded tone.
